Some projects are about more than great design — they represent strength, hope, and a fresh start. Designed by PdD Building Design and built by the talented team at Green Homes South East NSW, this family home, located on the south coast of NSW is a rebuild after loss, and we’re proud to share that it has been recognised as a finalist in the HIA GreenSmart Awards for ACT / South NSW.

Born from resilience after the devastating 2019–2020 bushfires on the NSW South Coast, this home is a thoughtful example of sustainable home design that embraces energy efficiency, comfort, and connection to the landscape.

The design was guided by a shared vision — to not only replace what was lost, but to create a home that performs better year-round and celebrates the natural beauty of its surroundings. Every detail, from solar passive orientation and raked ceilings to the use of recycled materials and double-glazed windows, was chosen to enhance comfort and reduce environmental impact.

Clad in Colorbond Matt Monument and Hardie Axon panels, and complemented by recycled brickwork and polished concrete floors, the home combines durability, sustainability, and timeless Australian character.

The HIA GreenSmart Awards recognise excellence in eco-friendly home design and environmentally responsible building across Australia, and we’re honoured to see this resilient, forward-thinking project celebrated among the best in our region.
