Braidwood Green Home Design
The goal of this project was to create a simple modern house design that maximises both functionality and sustainability.
This home is a perfect example of how a modern house can be thoughtfully designed to fit a long, slim block while taking full advantage of its surroundings. The floor plan is oriented to the North, creating a solar passive house design that naturally regulates temperature and reduces energy use. With a side elevation facing North, the home features numerous windows that open onto a bright Northern courtyard, bringing in natural light and warmth throughout the day. This clever use of orientation and layout demonstrates how a low energy house design can be both practical and visually appealing.
Built by Green Homes SE NSW, this project showcases a modern approach to sustainable living. A walkthrough video below highlights the design, while another video features Paul Dolphin from PdD Building Design discussing sustainable design, his collaboration with Green Homes, and insights into creating eco-conscious homes in the Australian climate.
