Kiri Wright - Lead Building Designer

My name is Kiri and I am a building designer based in Long Beach on NSW South Coast. I delight in my work and consider myself one of the fortunate who revels in what they do.

I have been designing buildings passionately since I was eleven years old and graduated with a Bachelor of Architectural Studies from UNSW in 2008.

I was fortunate to study under the famous Australian architect, Glenn Murcutt in my final year. I value his influence among the many architects that inspire me.

I seek to inhabit the imagined space, to understand the needs and desires of a building’s users, and to carefully resolve the multiple relationships between spaces to best suit these needs.

I enjoy this process throughout every design job, whether it be 300m2 of residential pavilions, a beach-house reno, an airport motel or a public toilet block!

I am passionate about the environmental performance of our buildings and prioritise designing for climate and site conditions.

I hold the belief that low-tech, passive environmental design principles have existed in vernacular architectures for thousands of years; they are not inaccessible, nor a luxury item, and this belief underpins my work.

I love to cook, I sew sporadically, and I am happy presently raising my son in Long Beach in a house of my own design.

In the past I have enjoyed living in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and on Lord Howe Island.
